Pulpotomy & pulpectomy

Every healthy tooth is comprised of nerves, blood vessels, and pink connective tissues.   When these soft tissues, or pulp, become effected by bacteria and tooth decay, they need to be removed.  Even baby teeth with inflamed pulp chambers need to have the infection removed, sterilized and sealed.

Since baby teeth have large pulp chambers, even a small cavity can cause a tooth ache.  A pulpotomy/pulpectomy is a great way to save a decayed baby tooth and keep a child’s smile healthy.

If a baby tooth needs this kind of nerve treatment we typically place a Stainless steel crown or Zirconia crown to keep more bacteria out of the tooth.
